Paulus, apostel van Christus 
Jezus, door de wil van God, en 
Timothe\u00fcs, de broeder..
    <\/em>2 Korinthe 1:1a<\/sup> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timothe\u00fcs (waardevol-voor\/
door God) ging met Paulus
mee (Hand.16:1-4). Hij had
een gelovige Joodse moeder
en een Griekse vader. Paulus
besneed hem omwille van de
Joden in Lystra en Ikonium.
Door deze \u2018gemengde\u2019 komaf
is Timothe\u00fcs een prachtige
uitbeelding van het lichaam
van Christus. Men wordt uit
Isra\u00ebl en de nati\u00ebn geroepen
tot in dat ene gezamenlijk-
lichaam <\/em>(Ef.3:6). Dat is puur
een geestelijke eenheid<\/em>,
daarin speelt besnijdenis
geen rol (Gal.6:15).
De besnijdenis was immers
schaduwbeeld van de ware,
op Golgotha.
Vader, dank U dat ook wij
in Hem zijn afgesneden van
al het oude. Dank U dat wij
in Christus een nieuwe
schepping zijn.
