Neem je dit aan, dan ben je voor tijd en eeuwigheid gered\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.<br \/>\nU bent vast wel, net als ik, in evangelisatie samenkomsten geweest, al dan niet met een tentdoek (wel toepasselijk, Paulus was tentenmaker) boven je hoofd. Daar klinken dit soort woorden als hierboven te lezen. Het zinnetje \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcdan zal God jou voor eeuwig afwijzen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 klinkt vermoedelijk niet (meer) hardop in dit soort bijeenkomsten. Het komt zo hard over.<br \/>\nEn dat is het ook. Keihard. Meedogenloos zelfs.<br \/>\nUiteindelijk ligt het aan de mens, of hij gered wordt of niet, in de gedachten van heel veel mensen, die het evangelie willen brengen aan ongelovigen. Zij zullen dat weliswaar pro-beren te ontkennen, maar kunnen daar niet onderuit. De mens moet kiezen. Dat is alles-beslissend.<br \/>\nAls we Paulus erop naslaan, vinden we opmerkelijke uitspraken. In zijn eerste brief aan Timothe\u00c3\u00bcs schrijft Hij: \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcDit is een betrouwbaar woord, en alle aanneming waard, dat Christus Jezus in de wereld kwam om zondaren te redden\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. (1 Timothe\u00c3\u00bcs 1:13) Verderop in deze brief schrijft hij: \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcGod wil, dat alle mensen gered worden en tot erkentenis van de waarheid komen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 (1 Timothe\u00c3\u00bcs 2:4). Nog verder: \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcGod is de redder van alle mensen, in het bijzonder van de gelovigen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 (1 Timothe\u00c3\u00bcs 4:10).<br \/>\nDeze woorden laten er geen misverstand over bestaan, dat God zelf en Christus Jezus de mens redden. En dat is maar goed ook. En wel zo zeker.<br \/>\nStel je eens voor, dat het van de mens af zou hangen. Wanneer heeft iemand Hem dan echt aangenomen? Hoeveel geloof wordt gevraagd?<br \/>\nGelukkig is er \u00c3\u00a9\u00c3\u00a9n God, die liefde is en uit Hem is alles voortgekomen. Omdat alles uit Hem is gekomen, moet ook alles weer tot Hem terugkeren! Ook al die mensen, die in de poel des vuurs (de tweede dood) geworpen worden volgens Openbaring 20:10-15? Ja!
