jullie heiliging, dat jullie van
alle hoererij vandaan blijven
<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 1 Thessalonicenzen 4:3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paulus wijst hier de weg in de
praktijk van de gelovigen.
De aanstaande \u2018komst\u2019 van de
Heer is reinigend, heiligend
voor ons leven. In die tijd, en
de onze lijkt daar veel op, lag
de verleiding overal op de loer.
Paulus kende zichzelf en het
vlees staat tegenover Gods wil.
In de meeste brieven noemt
Paulus hoererij – als een van
de ernstigste zonden. Isra\u00ebl is
een schrijnend voorbeeld. De
afgoderij wordt in Tenach als
hoererij, overspel, betiteld. En
zowel de 10 als de 2 stammen
gingen daarin heel ver.
Het is ontrouw, het is tot oneer
van de Heer en werpt smet op
de groep gelovigen waarin dat
gebeurt. Het is de wil van God
dat wij als gelovigen ver van al
de hoererij vandaan blijven.
De kracht van God, Zijn geest,
werkt in ons als gelovigen.
Dit woord horend strekken wij
ons biddend uit naar geheiligd
leven, zonder kramp, vrij in
Christus Jezus!
